Holy Week at Ravensworth

Holy Week at Ravensworth

Sunday, April 14, Palm Sunday

  • 11am Morning Worship Jesus enters Jerusalem as the crowds shout, “Hosanna!”

  • 5pm Lenten Vespers Mark the beginning of Holy Week with our service of contemplation, prayer, and reflection.

Thursday, April 18, Maundy Thursday:

  • 10:30am Morning Service This service will be for those who prefer to drive in the morning light; we will observe the Lord’s Supper and reflect on Jesus’ final meal with his disciples. The service will be in the intimate space of our Fellowship Room, by the fireside.

  • 7:00pm Evening Service The evening service will be in our Fellowship Room around tables, and will commemorate the Lord’s Supper and his commandment to his disciples: “Love one another.” We will hear reflections, read scripture, pray, and serve each other around the table.

Friday, April 19, Good Friday:

  • 7:00pm Tenebrae Service “Tenebrae” is Latin, and translates as “shadows” or “darkness.” This somber service recounts the events of the Passion, as well as the seven final sayings of Jesus during the crucifixion. As scriptures are read, seven lit candles are extinguished one by one, until all is in darkness and participants depart in silence to prepare for their personal Easter vigil.

Easter Sunday, April 21:

  • 6:45am Sunrise Service On our front lawn, we will celebrate resurrection as the sun rises in the sky.

  • Breakfast Following Sunrise Service We’ll have a full, delicious breakfast after the Sunrise Service and before Sunday School. The coffee will be flowing!

  • 11:00am Easter Sunday Worship Join the joyful celebration and proclamation of the Good News: Christ is risen! Christ is risen indeed!
