What Incarceration Costs American Families

Our broken system of mass incarceration needs a complete overhaul, as has been mentioned here before. But beyond the wreck incarceration makes of the lives of even non-violent prisoners (without much hope of “rehabilitation” for various reasons), beyond even the economic cost to taxpayers, there is the shattering of families that must scramble to survive. This article from The Atlantic explores this secondary cost–to those whose only crime was to be born into the “wrong” family.
