In her column for Baptist News Global, our friend Amy Butler writes about the frustratingly dark state of the world, comedian Amy Schumer’s movie Trainwreck, and the need for authenticity in Christian community.  I think she shouldn’t have to make excuses for going to see a funny movie, no matter how crass it may or may not be, but other than that, it’s a good read.  Part of what prevents us from being our authentic best selves is that we can’t seem to actually be ourselves at all, and if there is any place where we should be free not to “fake” it, it should be church.
